I spent quite a few years using observation as my art process. What output there was in this period is largely documented photographically. While I can call this “output,” it is as much about the internal. My beginning painting in late 2022 is informed by this process, surely. The dreams I can claim started me painting are not naive of its effects. I have thousands of photos that now serve as research materials. I would probably not call them reference materials.
This and the mental canvas will always be part of what I do, I expect.
