Abstracting

Abstracting is surely what our mind does no matter what, in that it has to be able to deconstruct in order to construct, and then to project, to fill in the gaps, such as with realism. Perception is the brain’s parlor trick. But we know we mean something different when we speak of “abstract art.” It represents something other than ‘resembling’. It evokes. I like to think it ‘REMINDS’. When I work in degrees of abstraction, there is a world-building aspect as I work bits of internal logic that might at least sit with the viewer as a form of “true.”
